Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on travel and business/social gatherings, and after thoughtful consideration, the NCGPC Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Planned Giving Days Conference, originally scheduled for June 2-3, 2020, at the Sheraton Silver Spring.

In this time of social distancing, our priority remains first and foremost to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our valued members. We know that many of you are balancing home, family and work responsibilities, while trying to stay productive, healthy and safe. As we continue to adjust to our individual circumstances in juggling new demands, both personally and professionally, we appreciate the extraordinary efforts many of you are taking to ensure that your work continues and to prioritize your time and commitments as best as you can under challenging conditions.

The Board is meeting regularly to assess how best to support you, our mission and our financial health as an organization through these uncertain times. We are also reaching out to our sponsors to seek their input and ideas and to maintain good relationships that will weather this storm.

While we have cancelled in-person events for the time being, we are working to craft web-based engagements that can help us all stay connected. On Tuesday, June 2, 2020, we invite you to join us online from 10:00 – 11:30 am, for “Diversity in Philanthropy: Are You Stranded in a Donation Desert?”, a webinar featuring Tia J. Graham, JD, Senior Director, Gift Planning, PBS Foundation. As required by our bylaws, we also plan to conduct a brief annual business meeting during this time.

We are pleased to offer Tia’s presentation, originally planned as part of the Keynote Session at PG Days 2020. Tia will delve into the giving motivations and behaviors of people of color. The findings will be coupled with recommendations for engaging and involving diverse populations in your organization’s mission, to help you gain deeper insights into and dispel misperceptions about philanthropy as it relates to communities of color. You will also learn how to become an ally in the cause of diversity; how to leverage your personal influence to realize positive change; and how to develop skills that will help you expand your donor base and sustain your organization’s mission for years to come.
